Dupe Detection in timeline- what metadata is being used?
Hi All.
We are running Symphony 5.5.2 on a new Mac Pro. The editor is noticing that with Dupe Detection on in the timeline- he is getting the “duplicated footage” colored bars on subclips that are different takes from the same scene. Definitely not the same frames in the timeline (different subclips made from different master clips) are being tagged as “duplicated”
The video/audio timecodes are time of day- so those are not the same across different clips. And tape/source file names are unique.
Does anyone know exactly what metadata Avid is looking at for the dupe detection? Is it only TC or is there something else we could look at to see why this is happening?
Is this just a bug and there’s nothing to be done??

Was this a file based workflow versus tape? I have been looking into what is causing it to trigger a dupe.

It’s file based, shot on the Alexa. Dnx36 if that helps. Project is 23.98 1080p.

Sadly, I can not tell you how the DNx36HD was made. All I know is that the post facility gave us synced master clips that were DNx36, from this we made subclips.
I believe the master clips were made from the prores from the Alexa, but I can not be sure.

Would it be possible for you to send me a bin with the clips that are showing up as dupe? Or just the portion of the sequence in its own bin. I don’t need media.

It was discovered that certain scenes did NOT have “source file” metadata and therefore the “dupe detection” feature would not work on those scenes. It was a very simple answer! Thanks to Michael for the help!
