    Hi

I am trying to batch capture some DVCAM footage, my first batch capture of the first tape had one error message:
“Exception:…capture aborted due to lack of progress”, Then I asked Avid to Try again and it went smothly.
Now on my second tape I get the samme error message, but even though I Try again, I get the error message at various places in the timecode.

I can’t figure out why it comes.

    – I have plenty of room on my disc.
    – The tape is perfectly working when I play it on the camera.

I haven’t tried to capture the tape without making it a batch capture, but I think that is my next step, or else I have to try in FCP and then ingest the footage in Avid.

    Any suggestions?

    1) are you using a deck or camera to capture?
    2) if its a deck, is it getting a sync feed form an SPG

    Hi Peter

I am capturing from a deck (Sony DSR-1500P) and there is a ref sync (Rosendahl).

I had a similiar problem and my web searches seemed to point to the fact that HDV is just a bit carp.
Have you tried HDVsplit. Its free, overlooks lots of things AVID and FCP wont, and the files fast import into avid

    Hi there,

We are having, I think, the same issue and it is driving us round the bend; did you manage to resolve it? We are getting Capture aborted due to lack of progress message and Exception CM-no-tracks found; the media is in AVID MC 5.03 and plays but does not show in the media tools! Have turned off TC breaks stuff, cleaned heads, turned off Fast Capture… still nothing. Any help much appreciated. Karen

We have this problem also. We are using HDCAM HDW-S2000 Sony decks AND the tape I am capturing is a complete master of a show (done in a linear suite) that was blacked and time coded before the edit. We have house sync and it seems to be only one of the Avids that has this problem.
we are running Media Composer 5.0.3 and can not currently upgrade because we would also have to upgrade Interplay and THAT is too expensive right now.
