    Hello All,

I’m considering taking advantage of the FCP to Avid crossgrade promotion. The plan was to evaluate the trial version of MC 5.5 and make a decision. So, I installed the 30 day trial 5 days ago. I sat down today with a brand spanking new Official Curriculum book. The program worked for about 30 minutes and is now giving me a dialog that the trial has expired. Disappointing. I’ve restarted and relaunched. The splash screen indicates that I have 25 days on the trial left. However, the program and the same dialog prompts to save and quit and that the trial has expired. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide…

When using the trial, Avid also looks at the age of project and can give this save and quite message if it is older than 30 days. A little weird, I know. Are you running a project that you got with the official curriculum? If so, you just need to create a new project, open the bins from the old one and move the sequences and clips over. This should resolve the issue.

I dont know why this should happen. previous post seems possible. However i DO know that AVID will want to help you as much as possible in getting it to work 9as an FCP to AVID switcher.
If you dont get it sorted soon, come back and Ill send you an email address of someone really helpful at AVID who will make it happen.

    Hello,

Thanks for the assistance. Andrew’s post put me on the right path. I believe that it had something to do with the timestamp of the project I was using from the curriculum book. I had also set the program to open that project upon launch so it got a little tricky. I copied the same project over from the book disc and was able to get that open. In any event, I’m up and running. Once again, thanks…

I’ve come acros this same problem but can’t get it resolved. I’m also an FCP user and am attempting to use tutorial projects with the Lynda.com training series.

I’ve tried making a new project and copying all the bins in the finder over to it’s new folder, but I still get the error message. I’ve also tried making a new project and opening a bin, but right away I get the message and must quit the application.

I do not fully understand the hierarchy of an Avid project folder (with the statistics and xml files) and these technical aspects, any chance someone can explain how I might be able to get these bins into a new project?

Also I have to say I wish there were a way around this, I don’t look forward to having to do this for all the lessons I may try to complete.
