    Hello

I am currently on a big project, trying to clean it up.
I’ve realised that som footage is missing in my project. My Avidmediafiles-folder is only for this project, so it is quite organised. I can see that some of the missing footage is loaded and is in the avidmediafiles-folder, but I just can’t seem to get to it.

I’ve tried using the mediatool, but when I choose the drive where the MXF.files, current project (or even all projects) and master clips, I don’t get any results that I can use.
It is only some specific folders in the avidmediafiles that I’m interested in. I don’t know how to sift it usefully, when the names in the avidmediafiles folder and the names in avid mediatool are different.

    Can anyone help.

I just think it would be a waste of time to capture it all once again, if it is already in the avidmediafiles-folder.

    Thanks

    Tina
    (I’m working i Avid media composer 5.5.2)

Are the folders in the Avid MediaFiles/MXF folder? Are they numbered 1, 2, or have other names?

    Hi Michael

    Thanks for your reply.
The files are in the avidmediafiles – folder > MXF
The naming is not very logic, some of the folders are named 1, 2, 3 ect, but there is also other names such as “Per og Gert”. In each folder there are also sometimes clips from several tapes.

One question I am most interested in is, how I tjeck wether all the clips from e.g. Folder “1” are in the project, and if they are not, how do I get them in specific from that specifik location i Avid Mediafiles – MXF.

I’ve realised that the tapes have been loaded kind of different, because some of the clips in the project are logic and have information about “tape” or “disklabel” and some haven’t. So I can’t just use Mediatool and sift the material.

Avid will only scan for files in Avid Media Files -> MXf -> 1 (or 2,3,4 etc). When you open Avid it scans here and creates an mdb (media database) file for all the clips in that folder. One way to import all the mxf files in a folder is to import that mdb.

Try renaming that “Per og Gert” folder to a number, then delete the msm files in each of the numerical folders.

If you import any files, it creates new MXF files, so you don’t necessarily want to create more media.

It also occurred to me that the files that you are seeing in the folders may be Pre-Computes and not actual tape or imported media.

    Hi
Thanks for your replies. It really helped, when I imported the mdb. Thanks, you saved me for working a lot of hours.
