    Hi –
the USA 19HS keyspan driver does not work with OS X Lion.
So how will you do VTR control from AVID products under OS X Lion
on a MAC, without this driver ?

Avid products have not been given the all clear that they work under LION…so the answer would be not to go to Lion.

But you of all people know this…

Not upgrading to Lion any time soon, but perhaps an alternative: I have a system with both a Kona 3G and a Mojo DX, running 10.6.6, with MC 5.5 and FCP 7. To simplify wiring, I tested the Kona 3G’s 422 port to see if it could be used with MC as well. Not at the same time (i.e. no FCP or AJA app can be open if you want MC to control 422, and vice versa), but it does work. Forget that Lion business for now – although Bob you’re right: very soon you won’t be able to get a new Mac without Lion, so better be prepared.

[Mark Spano] “Not at the same time (i.e. no FCP or AJA app can be open if you want MC to control 422, and vice versa),”

Since the beginning of serial control you cannot have two apps trying to use the same port, has nothing to do with the OS…

Why do we need to upgrade to Lion?

What benefit will it bring to our Avid system?

Why would anyone upgrade to a new OS without first checking ALL software on the system was Lion endorsed by the developers?

My mac has all software updates turned off (especially the sneaky little one in itunes which updates QT). I will stay on this config until the cows come home. It’s working, it’s making me money and my clients don’t care if I run Lion or whatever.
