Massive On/offline Problems in Avid MC with P2 and AMA Volume
Hello Community,
Mac Pro 2×2,6 GHz Quad-Core
Snow Leopard
12 GB Memory
Avid MC 5.0.3.5The material was shot in AVC Intra 100 and DVCPRO HD, 1080p 25.
The P2 Cards were each copied into a separate folder on an eSata drive.
In the project each card has a separate bin of the same name and is accessed via
> link to AMA Volume.Since from the beginning there were problems with spanned clips going offline and the production didn’t want to decide on a specific codec, I changed my strategy.
I created a new project, threw all audio and video MXF files from the P2 cards directly into the Avid MediaFiles Folder on a second hard disk.
Spanned clips were less of a problem then, but still I had to transcode single clips occasionally and the whole project is not reliable.Since now the decision was made to use DNxHD 185x codec I rebuilt the project, linked to AMA and transcoded the material to a third hard disk.
Spanned clips continue to go offline when closing and reopening the project.
Deleting media databases is of no use. Relinking clips sometimes works, on other occasions it doesn’t or the whole project crashes.Putting two cards containing a spanned clip into one folder, then linking to that folder for transcoding makes no difference.
Does importing P2 cards get rid off the spanned clips problem?
What can I do? Thank you for help!
