Monitor Calibration Effected by ‘Video Output’ Settings?!
Hi all,
We just recently upgraded to MC v. 5.5 with a W7 machine on the avid approved tower listed in my specs below. We are also running a Nitris DX. We have a Panasonic BT-LH1700W monitor that has been working like a charm, and all seemed to be fine and dandy after the system upgrades. Just last week, I turned the monitor on and everything went green tinted. I checked with my colleague to see if he might have adjusted any of the settings on the monitor (chroma, phase etc) knowing that I had not touched anything, but he also said that he hadn’t made any adjustments as it was properly calibrated.
Could the change be related to the “Video Output” settings at all? We have tried adjusting these with no luck so far, but thought I would ask. We have had issues at least with MC 5.0.3 where MC seemed to reset itself to default settings in terms of AMA, Digital Cut etc, so I thought perhaps this might also be the case with the Video Output.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve calibrated a monitor, and never with Avid. Can anyone point me to some good references for calibration? I’ve done a bit of digging myself and it seems as though you need a color temp probe to do it properly. Is that absolutely necessary?
The monitor is LCD and roughly 4 years old. I wouldn’t imagine that it would have degraded in quality that drastically and seemingly over a weekend.
Thanks for any input!
