  Relink .MOV Master Clip After Media Delete

  Hello all,

  I have a project file that contains the original bins and master clips for a former project. We deleted the MXF media to save space when the project was completed.

  The main video in this particular project is a 20 minute .MOV file captured from the Web. As I said, we deleted the original MXF files so obviously the master clip is offline.

  Is there any way to re-import the .MOV to get the master clip to relink as you would if you were working with tape media? I’ve tried a basic re-import and the master clip is still offline.

  When we work with DV tapes we can very easily batch digitize the clips from a given timeline or bin.

  Alternatively, does anyone have any suggestions or resources for designing editing workflows based around consumer digital video files? My company shoots mostly SD DV, but we are using things like Flip cams more and more. We do market research so it’s not a high production level, but we work with large amounts of video.

  We are running Avid MC 3.1.3. Older version, I know. We are upgrading this Winter.

  Use Batch Import. Don’t use the regular import dialog.

  That worked perfectly! I knew I was missing something simple. Thank you very much.

  This also is a great future solution for our workflow so thank you again.
