Next edit shortcut keys go into trim mode
Maybe it’s because I am a former Avid Xpress user and a current FCP editor that I do not understand the reasoning behind this on Avid Media Composer 4:
I like to use the ‘next edit’ shortcut keys (a & s) to go to specific edit points on the timeline. The annoying thing that happens when I do this is the trim bars appear on all clips on active tracks at the edit point I went to. Most of the time I am not looking to trim so I need to get out of trim mode in order to do anything. I know it’s a small inconvenience, but it disrupts the flow.
I’m just wondering if A. there is a way to avoid this and B. why it is set up this way. I’m sure there is a reason. How do seasoned MC editors utilize this function quickly and effectively? Is there a smoother way to, for instance, lift a segment between two exact edit points?
Thanks,
Ryan
