  • Missing A1, A2, A3 track patches and no color correction preview or waveform

Hey guys, I’m having the darndest time with my Avid Media Composer 4 color correction as of today. For some reason all of a sudden my color correction window, ya know the “Current” one, doesn’t show the color correction changes as I make them. Like, if I adjust the red curve, there is no difference in the window. Nothing happens. But if I look at my timeline the color correction effect has been added. Can anyone help with this?

I’ve made sure that the purple box is next to each adjustment tool is active indicating that I want the preview to show. I have also made sure that I was on the track that I wanted to adjust but still nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled Avid and nothing. Still the same.

Also, my waveform monitor, vectorscope, and all those other tools don’t show up in my color correction window. I have the drop-down menu with them but when I select one it doesn’t appear. The only thing that shows up is the name of the tool, “Y Waveform,” for instance. Any idea why?

Finally, for some reason my A1, A2, V1, track things have gone missing. Not the actual tracks but the things I use to patch to other tracks. Like, if I have 3 audio tracks: A1, A2, and A3, and I want to splice audio into track A3 but I need to move either the A1 or A2 thing next to track A3 in order to splice into that track? Those things are missing. The A1, A2, and V1 things don’t show up beside my tracks when I open a sequence that I’ve created. But if I start a new sequence they are there. And once I’ve done that I can then open an existing sequence and the A1, A2, V1 things are there beside all the tracks. I hope I’m making sense. I don’t know the name of those things. But I’d appreciate any help.

As I’ve said, I’ve restarted a million times, uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted my MCstate, site_settings, and site attributes. No luck. This has never happened before. I didn’t do anything significant to my computer before all this that I can recall. Please help!

I’m using MC4 on my Dell Inpiron laptop with XP SP2

I don’t know what to make of the color correction thing, but the A1 V1 thing you’re talking about is called the track panel, you can hide or reveal it by going to the fast menu in the lower left corner of you timeline window and checking or unchecking the fourth option called control panel, that should hide/unhide said track panel or “my A1, A2, V1, track things” as you describe it.

    I hope this helps.

Nick, thank you for your reply. I have figured out my color correction issue. As it turns out I did not have “Render on the fly” turned on under the “Special” menu. Once I turned it on, my color correction worked fine.

As for the track panel, I do have it checked in the hamburger menu. The problem is not the track panel itself but the A1, A2, V1 track buttons beside the track panel. Those are the things that have gone missing. I will post a screencap of what I’m talking about.

I have figured out what the problem was. As it turns out, it wasn’t a problem at all. The track indicators beside the track panel only show up when you have a clip loaded into the source monitor. I know this thanks to the guys over at Avid Community.
