XDCAM HD 1080i

Capture and edit in HDV 1080I then output to XDCAM HD 1080I with Captions . can this be done via Media Composer 4 via Firewire?
will it be 1080I .can this deck be used? PDW-U1
or do I need the more expensive one?Thanks

February 16, 2010 at 4:17 amThe PDW-U1 is a player only. You can’t even write metadata back to the disc. This deck is only USB.
Yes, you will need to step up to something like the PDWF75. I haven’t done anything with Captions, but you could check Sony’s site.

So I downloaded from the link, confirmed all was good, installed the Firmware upgrade and now the PDW-U1 doesn’t see any clips on the disc (or any disc). I can see clips on the 75 deck, but not the U1, so I know it’s not a disc issue.
Any ideas?

March 9, 2010 at 1:28 pmI don’t know if this will solve your problem but whenever I put a new disc in the PDW-U1 and i click on import the disc reader is not seen the first time. I have to cancel out of that and try to import again and then the disc drive is recognized.
