  Audio frame rate matching PAL to NTSC question.

  Hey all,

  I have an issue I thought i would put out there to see if there were some solutions floating around.

  I am editing a feature film trailer. I brought in the film from an NTSC dub from HDCAM. The audio stems were delivered seperately on disc but were laid off and made in 25fps PAL, not NTSC.

  How in either the AVID or protools can I make the conversion so that I can match the audio and video together without having a drift.

  Please Help?

  So far, I’ve converted the 25fps PAL dialogue track to 24fps film NTSC in protools, it changed the length, but it still had a drift.

  Very likely that your NTSC dub is 23.976fps.
  Also, it might be that the audio has a 25fps timecode, but still has content matching a 24.00fps film.

  Is there no way to conform it so that I don’t have to correct for the drift myself every few seconds?

  Export your track as WAV, use Sound Devices Wae Agent and change the sample rate to 47952. Import with audio settings to do pullup/pulldown. That should slow it down the additional .1%.
