    HI,
I ve never used Avid but i might have to for this upcoming project. I want to know how is the audio mixing and processing capabilities of AVID compared to FCP.

Can i stuck up effects on individual clips on the timeline and being able to change their parameters at any time like in FCP?

Are AVID audio effects better than those in AVID in terms of variety, functionality and audio quality.

Can i use VST effects with AVID (on a PC AVID workstation)?

Basically i ll be dealing mostly with sound in postproduction and i ll have to switch on PC workstation so i am looking to see what software i should use for mixing audio, FX etc..I love the ability to stuck up effects on individual clips on my timeline and ideally i am looking for a audio multitrack sequencer that will allow me to do this. Any ideas?

    thanks

In short, no you can not stack multiple audio effects, at least not the Audiosuite effects. And Audiosuite is where you’ll find the real tools for working with audio (compression, 7-band EQ, limiting, reverbs, etc.). If your editing needs are so narrowly tailored to audio and you’re on a PC, you may want to consider Adobe Audition or Cakewalk Sonar for audio work. Avid is better suited to video editing which works fine for the movie workflow the product sees so much of. But Premiere is miles ahead as far as using audio effects on the timeline.
