  Aux tc gets the same on all clips

  hi all

  i tried to search the forums for this problem which i guess must be not a singular event as I see it on a separate mac and pc laptop and desktop system. I have not found anything.

  Here is the situation. A job was recorded on a hdd recorder off the camera fed with audio on CH1 and TC on CH2. the same TC was burnt in on the image. We imported the clips, and one by one, renamed them, gave them source reel no from the slate (by the Modify command) and Read Audio TC to AUX TC1. The plan is to edit these, then print out an EDL based on AUX1, and then digital cut on a HDCAM.

  My problem is that in the bin window, the AUX TC of the last clip is copied to every clip with the same reel no. When I cut them in on the timeline, I can see the correct tc on tc window set to aux 1 for a while, but after a few edits it gets screwed up. the mac is better than the pc which screwes it up after the second edit.
  Even if I manually enter aux tc in the bin window, all the other clips gets the same code.

  So here is what I do and i would like someone to try or explain:
  -i import 2 clips
  -i modify clip 1 to have a reel no of 1
  -i enter an aux tc like 01:00:00:00. it is correctly displayed in the bin.
  -i modify clip 2 to have the same reel no of 1
  -i enter an aux tc for clip 2, like 02:00:00:00. this is also correctly displayed and clip 1 has its own aux tc too.
  -as I deselect the second clip, both clip 1 and 2 will have the same aux tc of 02:00:00:00.

  if i do a 3rd clip all will end up with the aux tc of the 3rd one. If I give them different reel numbers, its all ok, but then it will screw up the digital cut process. It seems that aid thinks all clips on the same reel should have the same AUX TC, but AUX TC is not user bits, is it?

  Now i wouldnt really mind the bin display being wrong if the clips on the timeline would have the correct code but thats sadly not the case.

  Anybody had a problem like this?

  The Aux TC is directly linked to source tape and source timecode. If you are modifying your clips and their source TC’s are overlapping or duplicate, any change to the AuxTC column will be reflected on all instances of that tape/timecode. Although that would not necessarily be the case if you add the AuxTC to subclips.
