  • using color key on only a section of a layer

I know there has to be a way to do this. I am trying to apply the color key to only a specific section of a layer, not the entire layer itself so that the layer beneath is revealed through the color key/alpha in only the section I want. How do I go about isolating the section of the layer and then applyng the color key/alpha to just that portion?

Depends on how intricate the area you want to key is and if it’s moving or whatever but you could try to mask the section you want to key, duplicate the layer, invert the mask and expand it by 1 or 2 pixels so the seam doesn’t show, then apply your key effect to the first layer.
