I’m running Media Composer Adrenaline 2.2.15 and I need to lay off to HDCAM. I have 1 video track and 4 audio tracks. Do I need to tell MC to send audio out through the AES outs, or will it do this automatically? Will It preserve my audio track number when outputting? (i.e. A1 => AES 1 out)

AES will always be outputting. It’s embedded SDI that you have to set. And you set it under Settings, Audio settings. Output, enable SDI audio.

As for straight track patching, you will need to go into Audio Project settings -> Output, and select “Direct Out” rather than Mono or Stereo. In mono or stereo out (default), all tracks are panned across output 1&2 (or 3&4). In Direct Out, by default, A1 is patched to output channel 1, A2 to output channel 2, A3 to output channel 3, etc. You can also change that track assignment in the Audio Mixer or in the Audio Project settings.

Cool thanks for the info. I have to get the AES setup because I didn’t realize that the adrenaline’s HD SDI doesn’t do embedded audio.
