  • Motion Tracking – Mapping to corner pins

    Hi,

I could be thinking about this in the wrong way but is it possible to tell Avid to map corner pins to a motion track?

Do I have to manually drag the corners onto each point of the motion track? Is there a better/right way?

I’m using Avid Media Composer and trying to put a video layer onto the wing of a Satellite as the camera zooms into it. I’m aware After Effects might be a better tool but I think Avid can handle this and I want to retain the capability of editing audio.

If someone can explain it to me in a way other than the way ‘explained’ in the manual, which I can’t follow, I’d be very grateful!

    Thanks

    Alex

Avi’s tracker is not great so you’ll often have best results with just one tracker. You can add one per corner though. Don’t confuse it’s corner pin effect with how it works in AE. It’s just a shape effect in Avid.
I’d use a PIP effect, add one tracker than shape as needed.

    Thanks,

I’ve given it back to our graphics guy – looks like I was gazing really!
