  DX messes up tape inserts – !!

  I have experienced a bad problem on some different Symphony 3.11 systems playing out to HDcam and HDSR decks. First problem is that when doing a video insert out to a deck and hitting the stop bar mid edit will cause a control track hit. As if the Avid stops the tape before it goes out of record. Second problem is when the deck cues to the edit point and halts and does not proceed. This causes a control track hit at that point. The only fix for this is to play out the sequence from the hit to the end and perform an assembe edit in order to clean up the control track.

  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  It has been mentioned before on the Avid-L2 mailing list. Apparently, there’s an issue with the SRW5800 decks, especially in SR mode, that don’t respond well to aborted edits:
