    Hello,

I’m trying to recreate the look of a tape rewinding in a sequence. I’ve got the fast motion reverse footage, but i’d like to add some distortion like an old school VHS.

Any ideas on how to create this?

    Thanks

Easiest way? Lay your original bit to tape (playing forward), then open your capture tool, turn off deck control and timecode, hit record, then hit Rewind on your tape deck. It should have all the rewind goodness you like and you won’t have to create anything. Just timeramp and adjust the speed more in your edit system to fit your cuts and you’re done.

If don’t have access to the tape right now or the deck, are there any other tricks?

There are a couple of ways.
Do you have access to Sapphire v2?

Not sure what’s in that version, but to be honest, I’d download the 3week free trail version on Sapphire v3, which has a TVDamage effect in it.
Reverse your footage with a Timewarp, and apply the effect. It will have more parameters then you need, but you should be able to get a really good effect, and it’s free.

No worries, wasn’t sure if BCC3 had it.

I’m running BCC5 and in there it’s in the OpenGL tab, called BCC Damaged TV.
