can’t export to tape MC 3.0
Last month I recorded some footage on some else’s Sony HDV 1080i deck, which was all that was available. I normally record in standard DV and edit on another NLE. I had to capture and edit from the same type deck onto a MC 3.0 for Mac, although I captured in the SD format, which is all I need. Using my limited Avid knowledge, I was able to capture and edit. Now I need to export to tape (not DVD), but I can’t get the Digital Cut to work. I only have a Firewire connection between MC and the Sony deck. No matter what I select in the Digital Cut window, Remote or Local control, it says it is outputting to tape, but the tape is always black, with time code. I’ve gone into the deck settings and selected allow for insert or assemble editing. Yet when I select Remote control, I still only get Crash Record. I have also consulted the user’s manual for advice and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. This is very frustrating as this not my editing system, it’s in another building, and I just need to get this program onto a DV master tape so I can bring it into my other system and work with it there. The vendor who installed the capture and editing hardware (it’s all for a hospital operating room) has not been very helpful and has said he never exports to tape and I should just make a DVD. That is not an answer. Please advise. Thank you.
