I’ve been trying to render a timecode burn in effect that is 3 hours long. Sometimes it tells me its done, but its not. Other times it causes the finder to quit.

Why would this be happening? I can only get segments of the timecode that are less that 20mins long to render successfully.

I’m running Media Composer 2.8 on an Intel mac with Tiger.

I’ve seen this happen with massive renders before. The best solution I’ve found is to do just what you’re doing–render little bits at a time.

Why does this happen? I have no idea, but it’s a nuisance. Have you tried exporting a quicktime reference of your sequence? It will render everything beforehand, then export (which takes seconds). If it can complete this successfully you can just delete the quicktime reference and your timeline should be rendered.
