    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if you can help me. I’m running Avid MC 2.8 with mojo. Have always had a deck connected via SDI to the mojo and when needed to, connected a HDV deck by firewire. I’m just wondering if there is a way of getting multiple decks going through the mojo. I’ve tried having the SDI connected to the Digibeta deck and then the component connectors going into the HDV deck above it but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there any way of doing this or would I need Adrenaline?

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon

Surely you can plug as many decks as you have input on the Mojo, but only the input selected in Avid (in the Video Input Tool) will feed into the edit suite? Am I missing something here?

Hi thanks for your reply Roy. Yes I can connect the deck going direct in by component cables, but not when I have the Digibeta deck connected by SDI. I’m sure it’ll be sorted eventially. I just wasn’t sure, because both of the inputs will be “direct” on “COM 1”, whether they would conflict with each other.

    Thanks,

    Simon

what if you have 20 decks ? The Adrenaline, or Nitris DX (or any product) doesn’t have countless inputs.

You need either a PATCH BAY, or a routing switcher. There are no other choices, other than to connect, and reconnect. Patch bays cost money, and so do the cables. And routers cost even more.

You can’t connect SDI AND component to an SDI Mojo. It’s either SDI and composite, or component and composite.

Jon posts incorrect information. The AVID Mojo SDI has SDI in/out connections that are independent of the component/composite connection. So you absolutely CAN hookup SDI as well as component or composite. AVID has historically used the Pb connection for composite in or composite out. If you bring up the analog component connectors to a patch panel, you can then easily patch your Beta VTR in analog component. Need to use composite – simply change the Video Output tool menu from component to composite, and now the Pb output becomes composite. Of course, to input composite, you simply choose composite in the Video Input tool (when in Capture or Digitize mode), and the Pb input becomes the composite input.

You can keep SDI in/out hooked up all day long to a digi beta VTR (for example), and never be concerned with the way the analog CAV inputs are hooked up. Need to use SDI in – just choose it in the video input tool (labeled SDI in).
