1:1 OMF Conform vs Transcode from DNxHD 36
So I’m offlining this HD show using the DNxHD 36 codec (which is great).
I’ve to deliver a “broadcast quality” trailer on PAL Digibeta for the execs to admire (not actually for broadcast).
My question is, can I get away with just transcoding the DNxHD sequence over to 1:1 OMF, or do I have to do it the proper way of reconforming from the HD rushes into an SD project, using the SD downconvert output from the deck? (The camera originals are HDCam SR, 1080p25)
I’ve done a quick test and to be honest they both look pretty bad to me – I wonder if this is the Mojo DX not doing a great job of uprezzing the SD signal to its HDMI output (which is how the monitor’s hooked up), or whether I’ve just been spoiled by looking at only HD pictures for the last few weeks?
Any wise words or advice would be greatly appreciated…
