I have a mac with media composer 2.7 at home, and a I recently acquired a Panasonic HVX 200, and have not had any problems, so far.

Where I work has a PC with Xpress Pro 5.7.7 loaded on it. I am attempting to use HD footage on this computer for the first time and I am running into some problems:

I am in a 720p/59.94 project (I shot in 720p/60). I import the P2 clips to bin then import P2 to media and everything seems to function fine, but as soon as I import media from a second card–the first cards goes offline and/or reverts to a “Virtual” drive (where the P2 clips originated, but not to the consolidated media).

I should probably add that I am not pulling the media of actual P2 cards, I am pulling it off a hard drive (I used HD Log to copy onto the hard drive).

I have a feeling I am missing something simple, but I also don’t know if this is a known issue with this particular incarnation of Xpress Pro. Any ideas?

This was covered fairly extensively in another forum (DMN, I think). It happens here (MCA 2.8.3) as well. Highlights of solution are:

1-Have no sequences and only the one bin you’re importing to open.

2-You can usually only import media one time into a bin.

3-If you have spanned clips, import all clips before importing media.

Thank you! Worked like a charm.

Great to hear! I’m looking forward to continuing improvements in Avid’s P2 workflow.
