Can’t import QT into PC Adrenaline
Help! I have recently received 2 different .mov files and when we try to import them into the Adrenaline it doesn’t work. We are working in SD, for an HD finish, and the files are allegedly DVCProHD – 720p-60.
We were able to convert them in FCP and bring them in. But is there anyway to bring them into the Adrenaline directly?
A couple of times when we tried to import them, we got an QT error message saying we were missing some component and should download it, but it didn’t specify which component.
Anyone had this problem and solved it?

Yes this problem has most definitely been seen and solved. It is due to you not having the “Codec” for the file given to you on your PC. My guess is the codec is DVCPro HD and the footage was given to you from someone using Final Cut Pro. Thus why Final Cut Pro can read it.

But as you have a work around i would stick with that / or tell whoever gave you the files to export it in a more suitable codec like animation/Meridian/DnxHD.

Is there a DVCPro HD Codec for quicktime??
Or do I just tell the folks who are providing the files to convert them to a more universal codec?

The DVCPro codec is only installed when you install FCP. Tell them to export it to a more universal format. If you’re importing it into Avid they could download the Avid codecs and export it to the DV100 Avid codec. It’s Avid’s version of DVCProHD and will import into your system without a problem.

The DVDPro HD codec doesn’t work on PCs. You could get a Mac MC Karina…. 😉

If you absolutely must play a DVCProHD quicktime on a PC, buy Raylight Decoder.

Download the demo to see if it solves your problem. If so, at $95 it’s not too bad on the pocketbook. Especially if you can bill it to the client.
