Can anyone tell me the minimum hardware requirements to be able to stream and view (4) cameras at once in a multigroup if the source material is DVCPro HD 720 coming of a P2 card.

This will be coming directly off the P2 card. I have what I need to be able to view the 4 cams in the FCP world, not sure if it would be the same in AVID. Could a 2.5 Ghz processor with 4gb of ram and external esata storage hack that? Would much rather work on an AVID given the obvious multi-camera advantages within the software, but I’d rather put the AVID on a separate system/computer altogether and not have it battle my FCP setup which is being run on a 3.0 Ghz, 4gb ram 8 core mac pro.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

Traditionally multicam is done at an ‘m’ resoulution. If you work at ‘m’ resolution, any ‘approved’ system will work fine. You can use higher resolutions, but you won’t get real-time playback. You’ll only be able to scrub through the footage.
