I am hoping someone can help me out. What I want to do is buy a second video card for my Mac so I can run a DVI to HDMI cable to my LCD TV to display what I’m working on in Avid to my TV as a broadcast monitor. Someone I work with told me I should buy a video card with overlay to display my projects on my TV. What is overlay? or is their another way that I can achieve this? If you could please help me to set this up I would greatly appreciate it.

My Mac specs are: Two dual core processors @ 2.66 GHz, 5 gigs of ram, nVidia GeForce 7300 GT.

If you need more info please let me know.

    Thanks for your help.

Do you have a Mojo? What formats do you usually work with?

I don’t have a Mojo, nor do I want one since I rarely digitize at my home edit suite and that’s pretty much the only use for the Mojo is to digitize analog video signals so that’s why I was looking in to putting a secondary video card in my computer and have that going out to my TV and just setting the full screen playback in avid to my TV. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

What you’re wanting to do is known as the “McFly” method. I’ve never done it, and couldn’t begin to help you since you’re on a Mac–I’m a PC guy. However, typing McFly in the Avid forums yielded a decent list of posts to read over.

Maybe give these a read and let us know if you get it working.
