Poor resolution in composer window
Hello.
The resolution of the image in the composer window is not good enough. I mean that it seems lower than it should. The monitors are two 23 Cinema displays (at native resolutions). I have selected the green (full green) mode, and although the image is not as worse as in yellow mode, it is still surprisingly poor. The same image in the client monitor looks fine (CRT monitor fed through the mojo). I understand that an LCD monitor is not the better way to watch the footage, but I am not talking about poor contrast but lack of resolution. I am digitizing at 1:1 from an analog Betacam 1800P (through analog components, PAL). When I watch the footage in Full Screen Mode the image looks fine, it is only the composer window that shows the problem. Also when I export a quicktime reference (or a single frame) to the desktop, the image is fine too: the quality is not amazingly good, but the resolution is much better.I posted the same question in the avid forum [I included a picture there to explain the problem further: https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/thread/276415.aspx ]. But although they tried to help (as always), there is still no solution, so I thought I might try here to see if anyone was suffering the same issues. I recognized avidpurple because he posted there too (he suggested that changing the monitors solved the problem, so perhaps it is the avid/cinema displays combination the origin of the issue).
The version of Media Composer is 2.7.3. The system is 10.4.10 and quicktime 7.2 (I know they are not supported and if you think my problem is related, I will surely reinstall them. Nevertheless, avidpurple said that he also got the problem under correct system/quicktime version).
And another thing; in 25i project this lack of resolution appears every time. In a 25p one, it only happens when you hit play. If the image is paused (or navigating in JKL) then it looks fine.

Keep in mind there is a reduction in the source/record monitors as they are not full 1920 x 1080 – and when playing, those monitors play 1 field or 1/2 frame in progressive. All of these will affect the quality of the image in those viewers.

I thought it was the opposite. I mean that the parked frame (in pause) only show one field, and during playback the whole frame was revealed.
Perhaps I am a bit paranoid with image resolution. But I cannot believe that what I see at my monitors is normal avid behavior. I have an ancient Film Composer since 1994 (and still use it), and the quality of the image in the composer window is almost as good as the actual one.
Excuse my insistence, but -
The old systems looked the same since the capture process only grabbed 1 field or 1/2 frame as part of the compression process – so outputting that to the client monitor would look the same. In newer systems, the source/record monitor still show the 1/2 frame or one field during play but the client monitor gets the full output when in green/green mode.
