  • How do I delete media files from a project?

Posted by Seth Palenscar on July 23, 2007 at 2:33 pm

I’m running Media Composer 2.7 I am finished with a rather large project and made the mistake of deleting the project before I used the media tool to delete the media files. That said, is there a way to easily delete the media files associated with just one project? I currently do not have media mover and don’t wish to manually look for and delete media files. Thanks in advance for the help.

Open another project, or make a new one. Open your Media Tool, select All Drives, Master Clips, Media Files, Precomputes, and select the project in the list you want to delete. Even though you deleted the project from the Project window, it should still be listed in the Media Tool if there’s media left on your drives that’s associated with the project.

Click OK and it will pull up all the media, master clips, and render files for the project you selected. Select all, delete. Done!

Thanks. I tried that before my post but it kept coming up without any files. So I deleted some manually and Avid rebuilt the database. After that I tried again and it seemed to work no problem. The database must have been stuck or something. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help. After your post I rebuilt the media database and tried the media tool again. It finally worked. The database must have been stuck. Thanks again.
