Audio Buffer Underrun: DV Device
Hello: I have a MAC G5 Dual 2Mhz, 2 Gig RAM, External Sata Array for storage. I am running Avid Xpress 5.7.2 with QuickTime 7.1.6. Everything is to spec with system requirements. I only have a DV deck connected to the system. The problem is that every time I begin to digital cut/timeline playback after a certain amount of time, I get the error Audio Buffer Underrun: DV Device. It happens almost all of the time now. Mixing down the video and audio and placing them on the system drive doesn’t help either. The funny thing is, it will happen even if there are no audio tracks in the sequence. I contacted Avid already…they are looking into it. I was using Xpress Pro 4.8 with no issues what so ever…until I upgraded. Any help would be appreciated.

I get this sometimesd when I try to play starting from an audio dossolve. Puzzling since it happens with you where thre is no audio.
What happens when you create new user settings and try to play?
This often cures alot of woes.

Thanks for the insight. I have never had the issue before. It happens on both short (4min.) and long (1hr 37min.) sequences randomly.

Hello again: After looking at the AVID knowledge forums in avid.com’s support area, this seems to be a very large problem. Many people seem to be having this problem. I had to export a QT file and play it back through iMovie to make a DVCAM master. That was a first! I am glad my client was not around.
