    Hello from Finland,

I’m using Avid XPress Pro. I have to record some voiceovers and I am now asking if it’s possible to record audio with Avid (I don’t have Mojo). I have some basic soundcard with three 3,5mm jacks (out, mic in, line in?). Avid’s audio punch-in tool don’t recognize those inputs, is there a setting that I have to configure to record via 3,5mm input?

    Thank you for your answer!

use any recording app. you have laying around, record/import and edit it in, or get a transcoder to record over firewire.
However, a Mojo can be found for under 1K USD used, and it is a handy extra. (Unlike transcoders, using a Mojo will keep your timeline in sync with the client monitor)
Do yourself a favour, get a Mojo.

Worse comes to worse, find a DV/HDV camera with XLR inputs, hook up a good mic, stick your head in a closet and record. Then capture your audio with Xpress over firewire.
