First of all, I work most in After Effects… but I also work with Avid Xpress Pro HD.

I’m about to buy a new system… I want a realy powerfull equipment. My question:
1.-Does Avid Xpress Pro HD, work with a multiprocesor system?
2.-Does Avid can run on a AMD Opteron (dual core) system?
3.-Do you know if there is a way to run Avid Xpress Pro HD on a 64bit OS (does Avid is planing to realese a 64bit version of AXpro)
4.- Wich System do you recomend me.. Xeon or AMD

I want to buy a tow Opteron 4Gb ram system to use it for composing.. but I also use AXP….

any recomendation and expirience will be apreciated!!!

    thanks… good vibes

Buy an HP xw8400. It’s a certified system for Avid, which means you’ll get help if you need it, and it’s a beast so you shouldn’t have problems with your compositing. Go to http://www.avid.com and check out the products page for system specs.

If you do go with a non-certified system–people have had trouble with AMD, Avid is not 64 bit and who know when it will be–stay away from ATI video cards. nVidia only. Good luck!

    Michael.

from my experience with AMD and Avid the results r quite bad specialy if its dual prossesors. its restart the sysytem or got stuck. for now as far as i know only pc based intel will do it perfect.
    goodluck
