Can anyone tell me what the process is of shooting HD footage on an AG-HVX200, and taking the files from the p2 cards or firestore storage and getting them into files I can edit with on an avid expressproHD and other Avid systems.

I know that the HVX200 will capture movie files- does that mean that there has to be some sort of conversion to mxf files to be able to edit in AVID? or does the camera enable you to shoot some other format that AVID can read.

    Thanks

    Jim

    Jim,

The HVX 200 is my camera of choice; I do 90% of my shooting with it.

Avid reads MXF files natively and does not require any rendering or conversion. If you have an Avid system older than x.7, just copy the audio and video .mxf files to the Avid MediaFiles folder on your data drive. Then open Avid, watch as it rebuilds the database for these drives, and then open Media Tool. Drag the files into a folder in your project and start editing.

If you have version x.7, it gets easier and better! Read this:

But can you do the same process in a pal-project (720p/25)??

    Hi Joe

I’m on AXP 5.7 and have had good luck with the workflow you describe for the P2 footage I shot at 24PN. Next I transcoded my Varicam and P2 footage to SD 23.976 for offline and it’s working well. But I am having a separate problem.

I shot some footage time-lapse using the “interval” option on the HVX200. But that required me to change over to “video” and a 60P frame rate during shooting. Now I can’t seem to transcode that footage over to SD 23.976 although I can see it in a 720P 60 project. I can choose transcode from the SD project but nothing happens.

    Any ideas or workarounds?

    Michael
