  • Export HDV from Avid to inport into FCP

    Hello,

I’ve got a completed project in Avid in 1080i HDV format that I need to bring into FCP for effects & color correction. I want to export the timeline in Avid, but what format do I export it out as that FCP can inport in. There doesn’t seem to be a HDV quicktime export in Avid. Should I export a DVCPro HD quicktime and then bring into FCP. Other then making the file bigger will this change the quality any?

    Thanks

as far as I know the only way to export HDV is to choose the export option for exporting an HDV mpeg transport stream (m2t file). I don’t know if FCP would be able to export it…not to mention it might not be the best choice for doing any kind of finishing work on since it is an MPEG long GOP stream.
