August 22, 2006 at 9:30 amI have a BR-DV3000 (doesn’t say “U”) and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It’s essentially JVC’s DSR-11, except that it has the 9-pin, which is INFINITELY better and more reliable than firewire for deck control. I bought a DSR-11 and had to return it, because the deck control kept crashing my Avid. This thing has worked flawlessly since I got it.

October 2, 2007 at 5:08 pmWhat Avid system are you working on? I can’t get this deck (BR-DV3000U) to do a digital cut for me. It cues up at the pre-roll point and then says “can’t find coincident point on tape, or this tape is write-protected.”
My system:
Avid Media Composer v. 10.6.0 (Meridien)
Power Mac G4, 933 MHz
Mac OS 9.2.2
1 GB RAM
ATTO UL3D SCSI card
Avid rS MediaDrivesmassachi
