Our source material is properly transferred 24 fps film on DigiBeta VT. We wish to de-interlace and reconstruct complete progressive frames for use in a true 23.98 fps project (on Avid Adrenaline). We can export the 29.97 fps from our Adrenaline to QT using any codec, and bring the media into our AE system. Or into a FCP system.

But I wish AVID had the tool to make this relatively easy transformation.

Can this be done with plain AE 6.5, or do we need plug-ins? (We don’t need to add a “film-look” and we don’t need motion interpolation, just accurate inverse telecine.

Avid Symphony will do this. It’s part of the Universal mastering features.
