    A media composer question please…

I work at a broadcast station that is changing over to Avid News Cutters with a unity. For promotions, that’s me and another producer/editor, we will be using a Media composer. We have 3 Discreet edit systems: 2 MatroxDigisuite and 1 targa3K.
I am trying to import files I want to save through our network.
The Matrox AVI files seem to import fine into the MC, but importing the Targa AVI files is not working.

I have quite a few Targa AVI files I want to keep.
Is this a setting issue? Easy fix?
    Help very much appreciated.

It imports the file but there is no video-just a white blank image.
The other AVIs from the Matrox discreet import fine.

    avi-targa?

Not sure I understand, is it an avi or targa sequence.
it sounds like an issue with the alpha channels, I don’t think avi clips can carry alpha only rgb.

If its a targa seq check the sequential file setting, ie. is it pulling in the right duration of sequence, even if it is a white field!

Check your avid import settings, ignore alpha if its a full frame sequence, try invert alpha? Do you have ae? Or if its a file seq you can batch precess it in photoshop, ie. open-save as etc etc

    It’s an AVI file.

The codec for it is Pinnacle YUV-which we recently loaded on MC (yes-we rebooted) but still no cigar!

We are using version 6.5.2 QT.

perhaps QT 7 will be better.

    hmm????
