CPU Noisy Audio Out
Is it my imagination or did HP ship some sort of magic metal ring to place between a mini plug adapter and the on board audio out of the xw8000 CPU? Was the purpose of this ring to help eliminate hum or grounding issues with the CPU? Does it help?
The audio out of the CPU is very noisy, with more than a slight hum. We want to run it to our audio boards and patch panels so editors can hear audio when working in After Effects and other non Avid applications.
I am certain this is a CPU specific problem, as it occurs on many CPUs, even when isolated. So, I doubt this is a classic ground loop situation.
Anyone running a USB audio out solution? This would get the D to A conversion out of the CPU. Any conflicts with the otherwise charming operation of an Avid Adrenaline or Xpress Pro/MOJO?
