    I want to know why the layers don’t get darker as they move farther away from the light. If it is not possible within the light itself, how can I set up an expression to make that happen?

    AE doesn’t have light falloff functionality. But you’re right, you can fake it with an expression:

    Nice script.

    There’s also an inexpensive Digieffects plugin called Falloff that might help.
