  • Digitizing DV-CAM to AVID/Quadra 950 from DSR-40 DV-CAM DECK

I am editing on an Avid Media Composer 5.6 with a Quadra 950. I am trying to digitize off a DSR-40 DV-Cam deck. I think after talking to several people that the menu isn’t set to recognize the DS-422 remote cable. It may be set to recognize the i-link. In the digitize setting everytime I launch media composer, I can’t get the deck to recognize the DSR-40 as an AVID control deck. When I open the digitize tool, it says “NO DRIVER”. What’s your take on this?

Also, how do you zap the PRAM? And how do you change the battery in the Quadra 950? Everytime I launch composer, I get a message that the clock needs resetting, but it doesn’t. I was told that I need to change the battery.

    Thank you.

[Lisa Davis] “Also, how do you zap the PRAM? And how do you change the battery in the Quadra 950?”

Go to MacMall and buy a G5 🙂
    Sorry, coulnt’ resist….

To zap the PRAM, hold down OPTION, COMMAND key, the P and R at the same time until you hear a second startup chime. Then reset your settings.
The battery is simple. Shut down your mac, open the case and look for what looks like a watch battery. Take it to Batteries + (or whatever battery store is in your town) and get a new one. Replace, power up and you should be golden.

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for the advice about the PRAM and Battery. This is the last project I’m doing on this dinosaur. It’s free and I have all my media on it about 8 years worth. Believe me, G5 or G4 on Final Cut Pro or Avid DV Express will be a welcome way to work for my next project.
