    or as a temp solution, hold the shift key (i think) as you’re scrolling.

    Not sure about MAC but in the PC world holding down the pause key at the sametime as your play or reverse key gives you a scrub.

    You can also use the J-K-L keys to scrub back and forth on the timeline. J=backwards, K=pause, and L=forward.
