Help!! I have a serious problem in importing Quicktime and Photoshop files into Avid. The files contains a lot of text and lines. In Avid, they look very pixelated and the aspect ratio is a little bit squeezed. I have changed the import settings to each available option but the video/graphics still looks very bad. Is it actually bad or is it just the preview that is in low res? How do you fix it???

Hey Natalia,, I think we need more info. First of all, what size are your graphics that you’re importing? I use the import settings everyday and it’s usually very reliable. Are you working at 1:1 or DV 25 or 15s. Have you rendered your graphics for playout?

The graphic size is 720 x 486. In After Effects, I use non-square pixel. In Avid, I work at DV 25. On the clip, I don’t see a green or blue circle so I assume that it doesn’t need to be rendered.

    DV is 720 x 480, not 720 x 486 – that’s D1.

I should add that Avid’s scaling is (in my experience) quite bad. Not sure if that’s your problem–but try feeding it 480. I’m thinking it will like that much better.

    good luck.
