    I am using Avid Symphony and have created a title with the title tool. How and what order do I apply a sapphire drop shadow the the text layer? Do I need to use s_layer or make RGBA first? I am confused about the Sapphire workflow because everything I have tried leaves me with the wrong result in this case. Any suggestions??

    Yeah it is kindof a weird workflow.

    Use makeRGB first, then add whatever effect (i.e. glow, etc.), then you would normally add S_Layer to see back through your alpha. It so happens though that with Drop Shadow it “layers” it for you automatically.

    So in your case you would use S_MakeRGB then S_Drop Shadow. That should work… it’s still the only way I can add a soft drop to a graphic created elsewhere.

    make sure you alt drop your effects and layer (or drop shadow)

    Drop S-MakeRGBA onto the title, then alt-drop any applicable effect you like, then alt-drop S_LAYER. The GenArts website has a decent tutorial on this:
