  • What is the most time efficient way to lasso transitions for specific tracks

I know it sounds like a silly question. I am want to lasso specific audio or video tracks instead of the entire transition for trimming.

My instruction book must be a little dated because it says hold OPT (I’m on a mac) and just lasso around the specific track. Unfortunately what this does is speed up the playhead when I move the mouse pointer around trying to grab transition.

    So what am I missing?

Make sure you go from (I think – I’m not in front of a system…) right to left… or left to right… it is movement specific, anyway. An make sure you click inside the timeline window, but not on the timeline.

    Hope that helps…

    Evan,
I’m not sure what you are trying to trim but I use lasso for slip and slide trim in large seq, just lasso the area then turn off the tracks you don’t want.
The other quick option for large seq is highlight the track section with your segment mode marker then select trim, it will slip and slide this section…Hope this helped…Paul H

Thanks for the responses gents. They’re certainly useful. Learning the functions of Avid coming from an FCP background certainly has it’s challenges, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
