Need help to get started in downloading some video. Have a Sony video camera, Avid Xpress Pro video program and Sony recording deck. We can imput the film from the camera into Avid OK but can’t seem (after editing is done) to be able to download product back onto a blank tape, dvd or anything. Also when transferring to Sorensen Squeeze something is not quite right as any sequences that do get squeezed are all pixeled and sound is funky/hollow – something wrong with something? Don’t know where to turn.

Thank you for your time, if you can do this work or have any suggestions on who to contact, any info would be appreciated.

[Calvin Johnson] “Have a Sony video camera, Avid Xpress Pro video program and Sony recording deck.”

What’s the model of your camera / deck? What format is your source material? How is your deck hooked up (firewire / composite / component)? What resolution did you capture your footage at? Do you have a Mojo or no?

How are you exporting your sequence (Quicktime, QT reference)? To what format are you squeezing? Does the file that comes out of Avid sound OK?

    Hi Jon,

Camera is HVR-V1U, HVR-M15U Deck, I’m not sure what format, I tried to leave as much settings alone as possible to make simple, I think it’s 1080i or something? Hooked up via Firewire. Resolution, also don’t know, maybe that’s the 1080i. No Mojo.

When exporting I tried about 5 different one’s so far including QT Reference, 2mpeg, 4 mpeg?

Avid sound and Sonicfire Pro both are really good sound.

I am willing to take instruction course (on line) but do not know one that relates directly. Thank you for any help.

    Calvin –

Sorry it’s taken so long to get back on this – it’s been a busy week!

First, getting the video back to a deck. I don’t play with HD, so I’m a little out of my element. However, I don’t think you can output HD via firewire without a Mojo DX in XPress. Come to think of it, I’m not sure you can hook up a DX in XPress.

If I’m wrong, someone please correct me! =0

As far as export, does your file (use quicktime out of the Avid) sound good when you play it in QT player? If so, there is a problem with your Sorenson settings.
