I’m not sure I follow – the timeline window is over your source monitor? Is it an issue of dragging your window out of the way, or am I missing something?

thank you there are two monitors, the left plays the clip you select, the right plays what’s in the time line. my time line plays in the middle of the two windows partially blocking both. thanks for the help. andy

Have you tried clicking on the timeline and then selecting “home” from the windows menu?

i’m not saying that the time line window is on top of the composition window. i’m saying that the video that the timeline represents which is supposed to play back on the right half of the composition monitor. plays back in the middle obstructing the other two. it’s like a monitoring problem. not a how the window are laid out problem. thank you. andy

It sounds like you have a pop-up window open. Have you tried closing that window?

…and whats your video card/CPU/memory/OS? Sounds also like a redraw issue. Any chance you are using an ati video card?
