Avid on Dell
Posted by Garrettevans on December 22, 2005 at 4:27 pmI’ve heard that Avid software does not play nice with Dell systems. Something to do with Dell Bios? Any confirmation on this?

December 28, 2005 at 12:58 pmAs long as the Dell is configured properly (a visit to Avid.com will verify) you should have no problems. Dell is one of the machines Avid prefers, along with HP. My standard advice? Buy from an authorized reseller. If you are putting this machine together for a buisness, you’ll save yourself hair in the short term and money in the long term.

January 9, 2006 at 2:00 pmI use a dell for my Avid and it works great. I talked to an Avid technician once about whether it would work and he told me, “Avid’s are very, VERY picky.” Not entirely true apparently. Just be sure to get a fast Dell. May as well since you’re saving so much money!

Avid IS picky. Just getting a ‘fast Dell’ does not garantee it will work flawlessly. Go to the Avid website, research what they require – better yet, buy from a certified reseller. The money you save in the short term is spent on tech support in the long term.
