    I have a few ?’s about Ae’s 3d possibilities.

    1. Is it possible to precomp something, and still have it retain it’s 3-d qualities once put into a new 3d comp. In my experience, I can’t figure out a way to put, sy, a pre-comped 3d cube into another 3d comp and not have that cube then become 2-d. For compisiting it would still work, but if you’re trying to create 3d lighting on it, etc, it can’t fully work as a 2d object. Any suggestions?

    2. Often when rendering I will recieve the error message “error occured while using advanced 3d plug-in.” What does this mean? I am using a pc, with a new Asus motherboard, but I am just using the on board GFX card. It works fine, but could this be the issue? Would it help to by another graphics card with some ram for bkup?

Anyone with any advice would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Terry

Yes – After you drop it into your new 3D comp, turn on the colapse transformations switch. This makes it react like a 3D layer. However, it is still considered a 2D layer as far as transformation (Scale, rotation, position) is concerned.

To make it work like a full 3D layer – just make it a 3D layer, as usual.

If you only do it as a 3D layer, but no colapse transformations, then you get a flat image that’s a 3D layer. Make sure to do both.

I’m not sure about this. It may be that your video card does not support all of the Advanced 3D features. Or it could be that your card doesn’t have enough on board memory. It could also be that your drivers need updating.

    These are just guesses though.
