  • Making a helicopter blade spin

    Hi guys!
I’m trying to use Proanimator in After Effects to render a 3d Model of a helicopter I bought from Turbosquid.

I’ve got it all done except the the rotating of the propeller blade.
I’m in the animation window and have created a separate track for the propeller,

Using the pose positioning controls advanced menu, I am attempting to rotate the blade on the Y axis and the best I can do is one rotation per key frame. Is that right?

The helicopter is going to be in the shot for about ten seconds. Is there a way to automate the blade rotating very quickly for the whole shot?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi Mike,

Instead of using the “Rotate Around Common Center” control, try going into Pose Actions, and using the “Spin Y” control. Then you can type in a value for the rotation. Typing in 360 will get you a full rotation while 1080 will get you three full rotations. So keep increasing the value until you get the speed that you need.

    Best,
    Edward

Thanks Ed! I knew there had to be an easy solution.
