  Cut outs in letters not appearing.

  I imported and AI file that will not apply the cut outs in the letters. For instance, the A and the R will not show the “holes” in the letters. It shows them filled in. What am I doing wrong? The only thing I can think of is that the letters are not from a text font. They are custom letters creted. Everything turns out OK except for the inner holes of the letters. Any ideas?

  Hi Mark,

  In Illustrator, you have to select both the outline of the text and the hole of the text and use the “Pathfinder > Subtract” tool. This will cut the hole and make the letter into one shape.
